Gold Calculator UAE – Price of 1 g, 5 g, 10 g, 20 g, 50 g, 100 g, 1 Tola and 1 kg Today
This gold calculator for the UAE turns today's live rate into a price for any weight: 1 gram, 5 grams, 10 grams, 20 grams, 50 grams, 100 grams, one tola or a full kilo, in 24K, 22K, 21K or 18K, in dirhams and dollars. Type the weight, pick the karat, and optionally add the shop's making charge and 5% VAT to see a realistic invoice total. The guide below explains the formula behind every number, walks through worked examples and shows how to estimate the value of jewellery you already own.
How the gold calculator works: the formula behind every price
Gold price calculator
…
… AED
Estimated metal value. Metal value only. Add making charges and VAT for finished jewellery.
Every figure on this page comes from one chain of multiplications. The international market quotes gold in US dollars per troy ounce. Divide that by 31.1035 to get the dollar price per gram of pure gold, multiply by 3.6725 to convert to dirhams at the official peg, and you have the 24K gram rate in AED. The calculator then applies the purity of the karat you choose and multiplies by your weight:
Metal value = gram rate (24K) × purity × weight in grams
Purity is 0.999 for 24K, 0.916 for 22K, 0.875 for 21K and 0.750 for 18K. Because those ratios never change, you can work out any karat from any other: a 22K price is always 91.6% of the 24K price, and an 18K price is always 75% of it. Shops in the UAE use exactly this arithmetic, which is why the number on the board in Deira matches the number here to within the timing of the last update.
Weights are converted the same way. One tola is 11.6638 g, one troy ounce is 31.1035 g and one kilo is 1,000 g, so a tola price is simply the gram rate multiplied by 11.6638. Nothing on this page is a dated price; everything is recalculated from the live rate when you open it.
1 gram gold price in the UAE: the number everything else is built on
The 1 gram gold rate in the UAE is the building block for every quote you will hear. Jewellers quote per gram, buyers of scrap pay per gram, and even bars are priced as a gram rate plus a small premium. When you see the 24K gram rate on the home page, that is the pure-metal figure; the 22K and 21K lines below it are the same number scaled by purity.
Why does the 1 g figure matter if nobody buys a single gram? Because it is the unit you multiply. A ring weighing 3.4 g at 21K costs 3.4 × the 21K gram rate before labour. A chain weighing 12.8 g at 22K costs 12.8 × the 22K gram rate. If you keep today's gram rate in your head when you walk into a shop, you can check any tag in seconds and know how much of it is metal and how much is the shop's work.
A quick mental shortcut: the 22K rate is roughly 24K minus 8%, and the 18K rate is 24K minus 25%. The calculator does it exactly, but the shortcut is enough to spot a mislabelled tag.
5 gram, 10 gram and 20 gram gold price in Dubai: typical jewellery weights
These three weights cover most of what sells in the souk. A 5 gram gold price in the UAE is the budget for a pair of everyday earrings, a small pendant or a slim ring. Ten grams is the classic unit for a bangle, a medium chain or a thin bracelet, and it is the figure most Dubai jewellers quote when you ask "how much is a bangle". Twenty grams covers a heavier chain, a pair of broad bangles or a small necklace.
Worked example
Suppose a 22K bangle weighs 10 g and the shop charges a making charge of 8% of the metal value. The sum is:
- Metal value = 10 × (22K gram rate)
- Making charges = 8% × metal value
- Subtotal = metal value × 1.08
- VAT at 5% = subtotal × 0.05
- Total = metal value × 1.08 × 1.05 = metal value × 1.134
In other words, an 8% labour charge plus VAT adds about 13.4% to the metal value. With a per-gram making charge instead of a percentage, add the charge multiplied by the weight before applying VAT. Enter the weight in the calculator above, set the karat to 22K and add your shop's charge to get the total in dirhams for today's rate. The making charges guide explains what a fair charge looks like for each type of piece.
1 tola gold price in Dubai and why it matters to South Asian buyers
The tola is the traditional weight unit of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal, and in Dubai it still appears on bar labels and in conversations at the counter. One tola is 11.6638 grams, so the 1 tola gold price in Dubai is the gram rate multiplied by 11.6638. Ten-tola bars, weighing 116.638 g, were the standard trading bar in the Gulf for decades and are still sold in Deira.
If you are comparing with a rate quoted back home, remember that Indian and Pakistani rates are usually per 10 grams or per tola, in rupees, and include local duty and tax. The Dubai gold rate in Indian rupees page converts the live Dubai rate into rupees per 10 g and per tola so the comparison is like for like. The calculator here lets you type "1 tola" directly or enter 11.6638 g, and switch between 24K and 22K, which is the karat most tola jewellery is made in.
Customs allowances for carrying gold home are set in grams and rupees, not tolas, so convert before you travel; the guide to carrying gold from Dubai to India lists the current limits.
50 gram, 100 gram and 1 kg gold price: bars and bulk buying
Above about 20 grams you move from jewellery into bar territory, and the arithmetic changes in one important way: there are no making charges, but there is a small premium over the spot rate, and investment-grade bars of 99% purity or more carry no VAT in the UAE. A 50 gram gold price or 100 gram gold price in Dubai is therefore closer to the pure metal value than any jewellery purchase can be.
Worked example for a 100 g bar
- Metal value = 100 × (24K gram rate)
- Dealer premium = a small percentage or a fixed amount per bar, typically lower for larger bars
- VAT = zero for 99%+ purity bars
- Total = metal value + premium
A 1 kg gold price is the gram rate multiplied by 1,000 plus the premium, and the premium per gram on a kilo bar is usually the lowest of any product. The gold bars price page has a live table for 1 g to 1 kg bars from the common refiners and explains how to check the assay card and serial number.
One caution: a kilo bar is hard to sell in part. Many residents saving regularly prefer several 50 g or 100 g bars so they can sell one when they need cash without touching the rest. The VAT on gold page explains the purity threshold that separates zero-rated bars from taxable jewellery.
Today's 22K gold rate in the UAE for 10 grams and other karat comparisons
The most searched combination in the country is the 22K gold rate for 10 grams, because it is the price of a standard bangle for Indian and Pakistani families. Arab buyers ask the same question about 21K, and anyone buying a diamond ring needs the 18K figure. The table below shows how the weight and karat combine; the calculator above fills in the live number.
| Weight | 24K (999) | 22K (916) | 21K (875) | 18K (750) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 g | rate × 1 | rate × 0.916 | rate × 0.875 | rate × 0.750 |
| 5 g | rate × 5 | rate × 4.58 | rate × 4.375 | rate × 3.75 |
| 10 g | rate × 10 | rate × 9.16 | rate × 8.75 | rate × 7.50 |
| 1 tola (11.6638 g) | rate × 11.66 | rate × 10.68 | rate × 10.21 | rate × 8.75 |
| 20 g | rate × 20 | rate × 18.32 | rate × 17.50 | rate × 15.00 |
| 50 g | rate × 50 | rate × 45.80 | rate × 43.75 | rate × 37.50 |
| 100 g | rate × 100 | rate × 91.60 | rate × 87.50 | rate × 75.00 |
| 1 kg | rate × 1,000 | rate × 916 | rate × 875 | rate × 750 |
"Rate" in every cell is today's 24K gram price in dirhams. Multiply once and you have the metal value for any line; add labour and VAT for jewellery, or a premium for bars.
How to estimate the value of your own gold jewellery
The calculator is just as useful for gold you already own. You need two facts: the weight and the karat. For the weight, a kitchen scale that reads to 0.1 g is adequate for an estimate; any jeweller in Karama or the Gold Souk will weigh a piece for free on a calibrated scale. For the karat, look for the stamp: 999 or 24K, 916 or 22K, 875 or 21K, 750 or 18K, 585 or 14K. Our karats guide shows where the stamp is usually hidden on each type of piece.
Enter the weight and karat, leave making charges at zero, and the result is the metal value at today's rate. When you actually sell gold in Dubai, expect an offer slightly below this figure, because the buyer keeps a margin and may deduct for stones, solder or wear. Stones are weighed with the piece but have no gold value, so a heavy stone-set necklace is worth less per gram than its scale weight suggests.
Use the same estimate when you are offered a gold loan; lenders set the limit as a percentage of this metal value, never of the price you paid including labour.
Frequently asked questions
What is the 10 gram gold price in Dubai today?
Enter 10 g in the calculator at the top of this page and choose your karat. The result is today's metal value in dirhams and dollars, recalculated from the live spot price. For jewellery add the shop's making charge and 5% VAT; for a 10 g bar there is no VAT but a small dealer premium.
How do I calculate the price of 22K gold from the 24K rate?
Multiply the 24K gram rate by 0.916, because 22K jewellery is 91.6% pure gold. For 21K multiply by 0.875 and for 18K by 0.750. Then multiply by the weight in grams. The calculator does this automatically when you switch the karat selector.
Does the calculator include making charges and VAT?
Yes, optionally. The default result is the metal value only. Toggle the making-charge field to add a percentage or a per-gram amount, and the VAT switch adds 5% on the whole subtotal, which is how UAE jewellers bill. Leave VAT off for investment bars of 99% purity or more, which are zero-rated.
How many grams are in a tola, and how much is 1 tola of gold?
One tola is 11.6638 grams. The 1 tola gold price in Dubai is therefore the gram rate multiplied by 11.6638 for the karat you want; most tola jewellery is 22K. The calculator accepts the tola as a unit so you can compare directly with rates quoted in India, Pakistan or Bangladesh.
Is the 1 kg gold price just 1,000 times the gram rate?
Almost. The metal value of a kilo bar is exactly 1,000 times the 24K gram rate, and because it is investment-grade there is no VAT. Dealers add a premium for refining, packaging and certification, which per gram is usually the lowest of any bar size. Expect the final quote to be a little above the calculator's metal value.
Can I use this calculator to value old jewellery I want to sell?
Yes. Weigh the piece, read the karat stamp, enter both with making charges set to zero, and the calculator shows the metal value at today's rate. A buyer will offer somewhat less than this, after deducting a margin and the weight of any stones, so treat the figure as a ceiling for negotiating.
